Temple Grandin at UNCW - February 14, 2011

Temple Grandin
Thinking in Pictures: And Other Reports from My Life with Autism

Monday, February 14, 2011 at 7 pm
Kenan Auditorium

World-renowned author and animal scientist, Dr. Temple Grandin shares her insights on human and animal minds.  A pioneer in increasing the public's understanding of autism and animal behavior, Grandin draws from her experiences with autism to design humane livestock facilities and to articulate the singular ways in which individuals with autism experience the world.  Diagnosed with autism as a child, Grandin talks about how her mind works—sharing her ability to “think in pictures,” which helps her solve problems that neurotypical brains might miss.  She is revered by animal rights groups and members of the autistic community, perhaps because in both regards she is a voice for those who are sometimes challenged to make themselves heard.

Above & Beyond: Audience Q&A and book signing to follow.
Tickets: $9 public, Free for UNCW students, faculty/staff.
Call Kenan Box Office at 962.3500 or buy tickets online-http://uncw.edu/stuaff/presents/performing-tickets.htm
