Four New Hanover County Schools have been selected to be recognized in the North Carolina Positive Behavior Support Initiative Annual Recognition. Wrightsboro, Pine Valley and Blair elementary schools are all being recognized as model schools. Additionally, the New Hanover County Schools Pre-K has been selected as a Green Ribbon School.
A NC PBS Model School has an administration actively using the PBS system and it has a PBS Team in place which meets monthly. They also have identified an In-School PBS Coach and the school has completed PBS Training Modules 1 and 2. A school designated as a Green Ribbon School has implemented all of the same elements and has completed PBS Training Module 1.
This year’s PBS Recognition will be a part of the NC Department of Public Instruction’s 59th Conference on Exceptional Children and will take place on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. at the Koury Convention Center located at 3121 High Point Road in Greensboro. At the conference, each school will receive recognition banners that can be hung in their schools announcing their accomplishment.
Positive Behavioral Support Programs are a way to impact the learning environments in the schools in order to support high student performance and to reduce behavioral problems.
